Obituary of Carol Hepburn Carol Ann Hepburn, 80, an artist and retired counselor from Omaha Public Schools, transitioned to her new life on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. Carol was born in Flint, Michigan, on July 25, 1936. She received a Bachelor of Science degree at Lane College, where she served as Miss Lane College and Basileus of her sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha. After graduating from Lane, Carol taught various classes in Kentucky and then moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she served as a guidance counselor at Boys Town and taught various classes in Council Bluffs Public Schools. After the death of her husband Glen in 1968, Carol became a counselor in the Omaha Public Schools until her retirement from Benson High School. While teaching and raising her children as a single parent, Carol earned a Master of Science in Guidance at Creighton University. Carol was known in her community for her love of art that she shared through her teachings and for the time and energy she devoted to local organizations, such as Jack and Jill, the Urban League and Alpha Kappa Alpha. She worked tirelessly to improve the quality of public education. She had an undeniable passion for serving others, offering words of encouragement, lending a listening ear in time of need or just being present with her beautiful smile, reflecting the image of Christ. She was a talented artist who enjoyed painting pictures and rocks, crocheting, making dolls, and gardening. Carol loved her hats and always dressed fashionably. She had an adventurous spirit, often travelling with her children and friends to a variety of destinations (one of her favorite being the Pacific Northwest), taking cruises, and driving across the country in her camper. Carol attended Cleaves Temple CME and New Life Presbyterian in Omaha, Nebraska. In Mansfield, Texas, she attended Trinity Presbyterian Church and always extended herself to lead or participate on various committees. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen E. Hepburn, and her parents, Rev. David Fullwood and Rosaline Hawthorne Fullwood. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: daughter Felicia Hepburn, son Marc Hepburn, and daughter-in-law Debera Hepburn, all of Dallas, Texas; siblings: sister Janice Campbell and brothers David Fullwood of Detroit, Michigan, and John Fullwood of Wedgefield, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
