Celebrating the Life of Luke Matthew Ervin
Luke, better known as Nub, was born on May 22, 1923, to Seymore and Janie Ervin in Bethany, Louisiana. He was the third of eight children, and the last to be called home to be with the Lord.
He accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early at Antioch Baptist Church. He was a committed member there until moving to Dallas, Texas in 2009.
Luke met the love of his life, Nettie Perkins, at the state fair. They married on December 27, 1955. Their union was blessed with two sons, James and Paul.
For 30 years, Luke worked for Barrow-Agee Laboratories in Shreveport, Louisiana, as a Foundation Load Soil Tester. He retired in 1990. After retiring, he worked at Waskon High School as a custodian. After three years, he decided that his time would be best spent at home with his dear wife.
Luke was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 23, 2018.
Preceeding him in death was his beloved wife, Nettie P. Ervin, his parents Seymore and Janie Ervin, his brothers Johnnie Ervin, Arthur Ervin, Carl Ervin, Albertus Ervin, and sisters Zelma Brown, and Pinkie Brown.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, James Ervin of Fontana, CA., and Paul Ervin of Rancho Cucamonga, CA., three grandchildren— Lauren Christine Sanchez of Chino Hills, CA., Christopher Matthew Ervin of Fontana, CA., and Candace Elaine Ervin of Fontana, CA., a daughter-in-law— Anna Ervin of Fontana, CA and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
