Angus and his mother Minnie came to Dallas, Texas in 1937. In 1944, he did a short tour of duty in the U.S. Navy where he was stationed in Seattle, Washington. On his return, he attended Wiley College from 1948-1952 where he became a member of The Theta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated in 1951. Angus was an avid golfer and spent time daily on the golf course, competing in tournaments around the state. He mentored and coached track, baseball, basketball to many youth who became professional and outstanding athletes and successful businessmen. He dedicated his life to hard work and self discipline. Angus set a good example for all by staying in good physical shape and encouraging others he knew to do the same.
